I had the rule disabled a while back for a day.
During that day I deleted over 10 accounts who were spamming the board.
What isn't remembered never happened.
Memory is merely a record.
You just need to rewrite that record.

replied, because I needed 1 post to download after being forced to signup to get download links after being forced to reply because I can't post new threads.

if this is what you call security, it stinks.

as for spambots, 97% of them do not utilize javascript. just put a hidden field in the registration and have jquery change it within browser. fail register if the hidden field does not match a jquery changed value.

I agree that sucks though.
I'll check with Natu if we can switch back to download links rather than attachments.

I figured a 1 reply requirement for posting new threads wasn't too bad.
But if it's affecting the ability to download attachments, I'll have to see what I can change.

edit: Got rid of the download issue at least. Guests should be able to download attachments just fine now.

That got it high profile enough to attract spammers through whatever means they use to find forums.
